Management of lymphoedema and other oedema.

Contraindications are medical situations in which something should not be prescribed or recommended. If you have any of the following, compression garments may not be right for you.

  • Ischaemia (e.g. Advanced Arterial Disease)
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Diabetes
  • Cellulitis
  • Untreated septic phlebitis
  • Phlegmasia cerulea dolens
  • Dermatitis in the acute phase
  • Arterial insufficiency
  • Cutaneous infections
  • Wet dermatosis
  • Allergies

Anyone with conditions that would normally require treatment with compression hosiery should be carefully assessed and monitored. Compression therapy should only be considered if the medical team decide that the benefits of compression will outweigh the risks.

Existing Medical Conditions

Your clinician should be made aware of any existing medical conditions you may have so this can be considered when prescribing your Premium™ Lymphoedema garment. If you have not alerted your clinician to any of the conditions above, please DO NOT wear this garment until your clinician confirms it is safe to do so.
